OpenStreetMap (OSM)
Dive site coordinates and basic metadata. Query via Overpass API for `leisure=dive_site` and `sport=scuba_diving` tagged nodes.
Wikidata + Wikipedia
Site descriptions, infobox metadata (depth, region, marine life), photos where editorially supplied.
iNaturalist
Geo-tagged marine species observations, used to derive monthly seasonality at site scale.
GBIF (Global Biodiversity Information Facility)
Aggregated species occurrence data, used to backfill iNat for less-photographed regions.
OBIS (Ocean Biodiversity Information System)
Marine-specific occurrence records, used for cross-validation of species presence at sites.
NOAA NDBC (buoy data)
Water temperature observations from nearest sensors per site.
Copernicus Marine Service
Global sea surface temperature and current data where NOAA buoy coverage is sparse.
Protected Planet (UNEP-WCMC)
Marine Protected Area boundaries and metadata. Used to flag reserve status on each site.
REEF.org Volunteer Fish Survey Project
Citizen scientist standardized fish counts, used to validate species frequency at popular sites.

Every site profile is composed by silent.fish editorial from the structured data sources above. We paraphrase, we cite, we do not republish prose verbatim. The composition layer is owned by Adeos and licensed CC-BY-SA: free to reuse with attribution and share-alike.
Voice lines come from the Adeos charter desk, written from direct experience of the sites by Lara and the silent.fish editorial team.
