Apo Reef

Overview

Apo Reef lies in the western waters of Occidental Mindoro, Philippines, in the Mindoro Strait. Spanning 34 km2, or 13 sq mi, it is regarded as the world’s second-largest contiguous coral reef system and the largest in the country. The reef and its surrounding waters are protected as Apo Reef Natural Park, a well known and heavily visited diving region that remains on the tentative list for UNESCO World Heritage Sites.
